National Community Sport Workforce Development Programme
Chartstage is launching a new national training and development programme for community sports workers across the UK in 2007.

We are working in conjunction with a number of high profile sports and community-based organisations to provide a comprehensive range of training and qualifications. It is aimed at key workers and volunteers involved in community projects in socially and economically deprived areas.

This three year programme will involve 100 projects nationwide and meets the demands of the Government’s agenda on education and training for the community sports sector.

It will equip community sports personnel with the relevant skills to run and sustain community based projects and increase participation in them for hard to reach groups. The programme will provide an extensive range of qualifications and will provide a pathway towards permanent employment.

The training and qualifications range from courses in sport and fitness, and community volunteering (at level 1 and 2), to certificates in community sports work and management (at level 3). There are also apprenticeships in active learning and leisure leading onto advanced apprenticeships in sports development. The programme includes additional workshops on a range of issues from business planning to partnerships and fund raising.

Our partners in this project include the Football Foundation, Positive Futures, Crime Concern, the Football Foundation, the London Active Communities and the Amateur Boxing Association.
