Certificate in Community Sports Work (CCSW) - Syllabus
Level 3 VRQ

The qualification has 10 units and the training has four elements:

1. Developing a Community Sports Programme

Topics covered include:

  • Understanding the difference between community and conventional sports development.
  • Developing rapport.
  • Developing effective programmes within the community.
  • Starting to monitor and evaluate.

2. Leading a Community Sports Programme

Topics covered include:

  • Engagement strategies and building relationships.
  • Managing challenging behaviour.
  • Identifying pathways to future development.
  • Moving beyond sport.

3. Concluding a Community Sports programme

Topics covered include:

  • Dealing with unexpected outcomes.
  • Providing access to further opportunities.
  • Mentoring, and personal development plans.
  • Managing growth in developing community sport.

4. Field Book

  • This consists of tasks relating to each of the 10 units, including a case study involving a local community based project.
