Who is this award aimed at?
The Certificate in Managing Community Sports Work is aimed at supervisors,
leaders and managers of existing community sports projects who are
interested in furthering their CPD (Continued Professional Development)
or looking for a pathway into the NVQ level 3 in Sports Development.
What is the purpose of the Award?
The objective is to equip those who are responsible for managing community
sports projects with the experience to understand the potential that
sport has for addressing the wider social welfare agenda and to use
emerging government policy effectively to obtain additional funding
and as a benchmark for monitoring and evaluating successful outcomes.
In addition the award demonstrates a framework for managing growth
and sustainability within community sport projects.
How long does the course last?
The training course element takes place over 2 full 8 hour for those
in employment or volunteering within their projects. However, Further
Education colleges deliver the programme in accordance with their term
timetables.
On completion of the training course, candidates put together a work
based portfolio from a set of field book tasks that demonstrates the
learning outcomes that have been delivered and understood during the
training course.
How old do I have to be to do the course?
You must be at least 18 years of age to commence the training. However,
initial assessment will determine the suitability of candidates on
application.
How many candidates would you recommend for this course?
Chartstage recommend a minimum of 12 people and a maximum of 22.
How much does the course cost?
The cost of the 2 day course, support during preparation of the portfolio
and all assessments to achieve the certificate, including the awarding

Can my college or training organisation deliver this course?
Yes, Chartstage have a tutor training option that enables another training
organisation to deliver the Chartstage course under licence to their
candidates. Chartstage provide as part of the tutor training a Tutor
Resource Manual, lesson plans and all multi-media including DVD’s & PowerPoint
slides as well as electronic copies of the student/candidate manuals
for production or uploading onto the VLE platform.
How long is the tutor training course?
This is a two day consecutive course.
Where is tutor training held?
Tutor training is normally delivered at your location.
How many people attend a tutor training course?
An organisation must provide a minimum of 2 tutors to any tutor training
programme up to a maximum of 6 tutors.
How much does tutor training cost?
The cost of a tutor training event for 2 tutors is £500.
